Scott Tanser, born on the 23rd of October 1994, is a seasoned defender who currently struts his trade at St Mirren. Prized for his adept left-footed prowess, Tanser stands at a solid 5ft 11in (1.81m) and wields his 11st 2lb (71kg) frame with the gracefulness of a seasoned professional.
His career sparked into life in July 2012, when he was signed by Rochdale, playing down in the National League. It was an ample ground for Tanser to cut his teeth and learn the cudgels of the trade. According to records, his debut season of 2012 - 2013 witnessed him gaining some minutes under his belt with one first team appearance. His performance elicited favourable reviews and his next few seasons, culminating in season 2016-2017, were highlighted with regular appearances for the team and a career-defining goal in the 2014-2015 season.
A change of scenery was on the horizon and in January 2017, he moved to Port Vale in League One. While his stint here was brief, comprising the latter half of the 2016-2017 season, Tanser managed to make 11 appearances.
Fast forward to July 2017 and he found himself north of the border, upon being signed by St Johnstone. Over the course of 4 seasons at the Perth-based club, Tanser amassed a respectable number of appearances, 30, 37, 21 and 30 respectively per season, and managed to net the ball 5 times.
Since July 2021, Tanser has been flying the flag at St Mirren, experiencing fruitful runs each season up till the current 2025-2026 run, which has thus far seen him taking to the pitch five times. Previous seasons have seen him making between 29 to 38 appearances, and scoring up to 2 goals.
As a valuable part of the team, he has been instrumental in St Mirren's exploits in both the League Cup and Scottish Cup, bagging caps in the former during the 2025-2026 season and latter in the 2024-2025 season.
