Aah, Scott Wright! Born in the grand ole year of 1997, he's now into his late twenties, hardly a spring chicken in footballing terms, but still it seems, flitting about quite a lot seeking something. A right winger by trade, he now plies that trade, or indeed, attempts to ply it, in the exotic location of Dundee. Standing an imposing 5'8" (or 1.75m for those of you on the continent), he doesn't exactly tower over his fellow competitors, but at the weight of 10st 3lb (or 65kg for the metric fans out there), he's got a bit of muscle to shove anyone trying to purloin the ball from him.
In a noteworthy but not altogether illustrious start to his career, Wright wobbled into the world of football with Aberdeen in July 2014. Throughout his time there, he engaged in what can be generously termed "inconsistent" participation, with an unremarkable total of 59 appearances and just 7 goals to his name over seven seasons.
In 2019, probably yearning for a change of scenery, our bold Wright was shipped off to Dundee on loan. There, he wriggled about on the pitch 13 times, managing to put the proverbial cherry on the cake three times.
Returning to Aberdeen later that year, Wright decided that a good round of déjà vu was in order, repeating his already adequate slew of appearances and goals at the club before venturing southwards to Rangers for a paltry £150k. Considering the state of the economy, they really could have dug deeper into their pockets.
Wright continued his illustrious journey at Rangers, clocking 76 appearances, whilst managing to pot seven goals over four seasons. With all fairness, it was more of the same. And then, in a move that certainly must have made his mother proud, he signed for Birmingham City in England for the head-spinning sum of £300k. After impressing the masses with a whopping 3 appearances, Wright, (unsurprisingly) found himself back in the loving arms of Dundee.
For those of you keeping count, that's a single appearance as a substitute in the Scottish Cup of the 2025-2026 season, crowning a whirlwind career rife with, dare we say, mediocrity. Is it the scenery he likes changing or just the jerseys? Either way, it's always entertaining to see where Wright will end up next.
