Sead Hakšabanović was born in Hyltebruk, Sweden, on 4 May 1999 (age 27), and represents Montenegro. A left-sided attacker, he first made a proper senior mark at Halmstads BK, where his 2016 league season – eight goals in 30 appearances – remains the most productive league campaign of his career.
Celtic signed him from Rubin Kazan in August 2022. He arrived as a technically neat wide player rather than a project for the distant future, but his time in Glasgow never quite became more than useful. There were flashes, and there was ability, but not enough sustained authority to make the left flank his own.
He left Celtic in July 2024, joining Malmö FF for around £1.5m. His post-Celtic career has kept him largely in Swedish football, including a spell at Malmö and a more settled period associated with IFK Norrköping. He is valued at around £2m by Transfermarkt.
By 2026 he remains a regular first-team presence for Malmö FF, wearing number nine. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the club that year, scoring seven goals, including three in 10 Allsvenskan matches. His European minutes have also been steady, with goals in both Europa League and Champions League qualifying.
Hakšabanović’s career has moved from early promise in Sweden to Russia, Celtic, and back into the Swedish game. He is not a Celtic footnote, but nor did his spell in Glasgow become the main story. He remains an established professional, still involved and still contributing.
