Seán Boyd, born on 20 June 1998 (age 27), is a Republic of Ireland striker whose senior career has been shaped above all by Shelbourne. At 6ft 5in (1.95m), he is an imposing centre-forward, and his game has largely been built around giving his side a fixed point in attack.
His early loan experience helped move him towards regular first-team football, but the serious body of work has come at Tolka Park. Across five seasons with Shelbourne, Boyd has made 105 league appearances and scored 30 league goals, a record that says more about persistence and usefulness than any need for decoration.
His best league return came in 2022, when he scored 11 times in 29 appearances. That season remains the clearest attacking peak in his Shelbourne spell, though his value has not rested on one campaign alone.
In 2026, Boyd is still a regular part of the Shelbourne side. He has made 16 league appearances and scored two goals, with further outings in Champions League qualifying, Europa League qualifying and the Conference League taking him to 25 appearances and two goals in all competitions for the season.
Boyd’s career is a Shelbourne story more than anything else: a tall Irish striker with a long run in the side, one strong scoring season behind him, and a continuing role in the current team.
