Seán Gannon, born 11 July 1991 (age 34), is an Irish right-back with a long League of Ireland career behind him and, more importantly, a place still in the team in 2026. He is primarily used at right-back for Shelbourne, where his value is plainly more about reliability and game time than attacking output.
His most productive league season came at Dundalk in 2014, when he scored two goals in 33 appearances. That remains the notable attacking return in a career built around steadier full-back work rather than headline numbers.
At Shelbourne in 2026, Gannon has made 15 Premier Division appearances without scoring. He has also been used in Europe, with one Europa League qualifying appearance, two Champions League qualifying appearances, two Conference League qualifying appearances and four Conference League appearances, taking him to 24 appearances in all competitions for the club this year.
Gannon’s career has been that of an experienced domestic right-back: productive enough in his Dundalk years, still trusted at Shelbourne, and still a regular first-team presence in 2026.
