Sébastien Haller, born on 22 June 1994 (age 31), is an Ivory Coast striker with a career that has moved through the Netherlands, Germany, England and back again. At 6ft 3in (1.90m), he has always had the frame for the role, but his better football has usually come when that physical presence has been matched by clean penalty-box movement.
His early loan spell at FC Utrecht was an important step rather than a detour. After coming through at Auxerre, he found regular senior football in the Eredivisie, and Utrecht gave him the platform to turn promise into proper first-team output. That spell led to a permanent move and set up the rest of his career.
Haller later moved on to Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham United before finding his most productive league season at Ajax in 2021–22, when he scored 21 goals in 31 league appearances. That was the clear high point of his scoring record, and it came in a side that suited his penalty-box instincts rather better than some of his other stops.
He is now back at FC Utrecht and remains a regular first-team presence in 2025–26. He has made 21 league appearances and scored one league goal, with 33 appearances and one goal in all competitions for the club this season. His current market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Haller’s career has been shaped by Utrecht at both ends: first as the club that helped establish him, and now as the place where he continues to get regular football. Between those spells, he has had productive periods at a higher level, most notably with Ajax.
