Shamal George, born on 6 January 1998, is indeed an intriguing figure in the world of football. Known for guarding the posts, this English goalkeeper plies his trade for St Mirren. Towering at 1.91m (6ft 3in) tall, and weighing in at 79kg (12st 6lb), he most certainly cuts an impressive figure in the goal. To unmistakably mark his territory, he dons the number 1 jersey.
As for the player's market value, it is approximately €300k, which rounds up to a sum in the region of £255k, as per the calculations provided by Transfermarkt.
George began to make his mark in the football scene in August 2017 by transferring from Liverpool to Carlisle United on a loan deal. It was during the 2017 - 2018 season that he first stepped onto the pitch in the colours of Carlisle United, making four appearances in league matches.
A year later, in July 2018, George found himself swapping his Liverpool jersey for that of Tranmere Rovers, under another loan arrangement. His journey did not stop there, George then signed a permanent deal with Colchester United in England in August 2020.
In July of 2022, George's path would take a detour north, from Colchester United to Livingston in the Premiership of Scotland. After moving for an undisclosed fee, George represented Livingston in a total of 32 matches for each of the seasons 2022 - 2023 and 2023 - 2024. However, his appearances drastically reduced to only three in league matches during the 2024 - 2025 season.
That stint was followed up by him transferring for an undisclosed fee to Wycombe Wanderers in England’s League One in August 2024. And finally, in July 2025, George put pen to paper on a loan deal with St Mirren in Scotland's Premiership. He's been a regular part of the setup here, taking the pitch 33 times for the current 2025 - 2026 season.
Outside of league fixtures, George has proven to be a regular feature in the respective cup competitions, with five starts in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 for St Mirren, and three starts in the Scottish Cup 2025 - 2026 for the same club.
