Born on the 6th of November, 1992, in Germany, Stefan Ortega has carved out a respectable career as a goalkeeper. Currently plying his trade with the meteoric Manchester City, Ortega, known for his robust 6ft 1in (1.86m) frame and weighing in at 14st (89kg), adorns the number 18 jersey. Off the club scene, he has also donned the 'Die Mannschaft' colours, representing the German national team.

Ortega started his career at Arminia Bielefeld in the 2. Bundesliga, where he was given his first professional contract in July 2007. His first season as a squad member, the 2011-2012 season, saw him make 20 first team appearances. He followed this with a single outing in the subsequent 2012-2013 season. The 2013-2014 term saw Ortega earn 15 first team appearances. His game time matured significantly in the 2017-2018 season, playing in 34 matches. This became the trend till 2021 when he made 33 appearances.
In 2014, Ortega made a move to 1860 Munich where he stayed for a considerable amount of time, making 56 appearances across three seasons until 2017. However, he transferred back to his boyhood club, Arminia Bielefeld, in 2017. After a stable stint, getting regular playing time and making considerable impact in growing the club, he once again departed in July 2022.
Ortega then marked the start of his English football career, joining Manchester City in the Premier League, the English top-tier league. Since his transfer, he has made 25 league appearances across three terms. In the ongoing 2025-2026 season, however, he has not made an outing yet.
In his illustrious career, he also managed to play in the esteemed Club World Cup 2025 for Manchester City, where he began one game from between the sticks.
