Stewart Kerr, born in Scotland on the 13th of November 1974, is a well-known former football goalkeeper. At the grand height of 1.88m (6ft 2in) tall, and a robust weight of 83kg (13st), he was a formidable presence in the goalmouth during his playing career.
Immersing himself into the intensity of the Scottish football landscape, Kerr joined Celtic, a prominent team in the Scottish Premiership, in May 1993. However, his first few seasons with the team were marked by a noticeable absence on the field. During the 1995-1996 season, the promising goalkeeper made no first team appearances in league matches. His fortunes significantly improved in the following season, where he clocked up 26 first team appearances, demonstrating his resilience and determination.
However, the 1997-1998 season proved to be a challenge, as Kerr once again found himself sidelined from the first team, making no appearances in league matches. The subsequent two seasons saw Kerr sporadically take to the pitch, featuring in a combined total of eight first team games. Come the dawn of the new millennium, the 2000-2001 season rounded off Kerr's Celtic career on a quieter note with no league appearances.
In a strategic career move, August 2001 saw Kerr transfer to Wigan Athletic, a team competing in England's League One division, for a fee of approximately £200k. His sole season with the club charted a similar path to some of his time at Celtic, with eight first team appearances being made in league matches.
Come September 2002, the fate of Kerr's football career took an enigmatic turn. Departing Wigan Athletic in a shroud of mystery, he transferred to a yet undisclosed team. Despite the ups and downs of his playing career, there is no denying the unforgettable mark Stewart Kerr made during his tenure in both the Scottish and English football leagues.
