The subject of our interest is Tete Yengi, an Australian born striker plying his trade in the Scottish premiership for the side Livingston. Born on November 28, 2000, the prolific forward cuts an imposing figure on the field standing at 6ft 5in tall (1.97m) and weighs in at 14st (89kg). He is easily recognisable on the pitch wearing the number 39 jersey.
Presently, his market value stands approximately at €150k, roughly equating to £127,500 based on current financial trends according to the evaluation by Transfermarkt.
Yengi brought his career over to the professional stage in December 2020. His first port of call was in his native Australia, signing for Newcastle United Jets from NPL side Adelaide Comets. Unfazed by the big stage, he managed to make nine first team appearances in his debut season.
His talent, soon recognised overseas, led to a transfer to Ipswich Town in England's Championship in September 2021. However, realising his need for further development, Yengi was loaned out to Veikkausliiga side VPS in Finland in April 2022. It was here that Yengi seemed to find his feet, netting seven goals in 24 first team appearances.
January 2023 saw a return to England, this time on loan to Northampton Town in League One, making seven first team appearances. After the brief spell in Northampton, Yengi rejoined the Veikkausliiga in Finland with KuPS on loan in July 2023. He made a modest contribution to the team, making 11 appearances and putting one goal past the opposition.
In a surprising turn of events in January 2024, Yengi left Ipswich Town for the colder climes of Scotland, signing for Livingston for an undisclosed fee. In his first season (2023-2024), Yengi made a strong impression, appearing 16 times and finding the back of the net four times. His second season proved to be just as prosperous, making 28 appearances and scoring the same amount of goals as his previous campaign. Currently in the 2025-2026 season, Yengi has continued performing well, making 16 appearances and scoring twice.
His tenacity and skill have also been put to use in the cup competitions. During the 2025-2026 League Cup campaign for Livingston, he made two appearances as a substitute. His efforts were instrumental in the 2024-2025 Premiership Play-offs, where he scored a crucial goal in his four substitute appearances.
At the still tender age of 25, Tete Yengi's career has taken him across several continents and multiple leagues. His journey is far from over and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for this promising player.
