Born on the 11th March 1976 in Denmark, Thomas Gravesen was a central midfielder of repute, known for his remarkable prowess and skill on the field. Standing tall at 6ft (1.83m) and weighing 12st 12lb (82kg), Gravesen embarked on his career at Vejle in the Danish Superliga in 1995.
His debut season at Vejle was marked by resilience and determination, making 28 first team appearances and netting two goals in league matches. His performance scaled height the following season, with 30 first team appearances and eight league goals. In July 1997, Gravesen sought greener pastures and transferred from Vejle to Hamburg in Germany's 2nd Bundesliga.
While at Hamburg, Gravesen proved his worth with frequent first team appearances and notable scores over three seasons. His commendable performance caught the attention of Everton in England, leading to a transfer in August 2000 for around £2.5m. His tenure at Everton stretched across several seasons, wherein he bagged a variety of goals and cemented his standing as a reliable midfielder.
In January 2005, his talents were recognised by Spanish juggernauts Real Madrid, who secured his services for another £2.5m. Therefore, only two seasons were spent at Real Madrid. Treading upon the path of growth, he made a switch to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in August 2006 for approximately £2m.
Gravesen's sojourn at Celtic was filled with activity despite being short-lived. His single season in 2006 - 2007 was distinguished by 22 first team appearances and six impressive league goals.
August 2007 saw Gravesen on the move again, this time on loan to his old club Everton. However, after completing his loan, Gravesen made his return to Celtic in May 2008.
The final leg of Gravesen's journey began in August 2008, when he transferred from Celtic. This marked an end to an exciting career that spanned countries and leagues and was punctuated by memorable performances.
