Timothy Weah was born in New York on 22 February 2000 (age 26), and came through at Paris Saint-Germain before Celtic took him in January 2019. It was an early loan spell rather than a long stay, but it mattered: he arrived with obvious pace, directness and a surname that brought its own noise, then had to deal with the more ordinary business of earning minutes.
At Celtic, Weah was used as a wide forward, the role that has broadly followed him since. The move from PSG gave him senior football at a point when he needed it, and Celtic got a sharp, developing attacker rather than a finished article. That distinction was fairly clear at the time.
