Born in England on 8 May 2003, Tobi Oluwayemi is a dignified presence in goal for Celtic, standing at 6ft 1in (1.86m) tall and weighing in at 11 stone (70kg). A trainee since July 2019, it is worth noting that as of the current 2024-2025 season, Oluwayemi has yet to make his debut for the first-team in the Scottish Premiership.
In January 2023, our young prospect took a loan spell across the Irish Sea with Cork City in the Republic of Ireland's Premier Division. Despite only appearing twice in his debut league season with Cork City, the experience surely furthered his development.
No sooner had his stint ended in Cork, another loan transfer materialised for Oluwayemi in August 2023. This time the destination was Austria, with 2. Liga outfit, Admira Wacker Modling. A touch more experience was gained here, with Oluwayemi keeping guard of the Admira goal for nine league encounters in the 2023-2024 campaign.
Oluwayemi found himself back on Scottish soil in the summer of 2024, loaned to Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Championship. His star has shone brighter in the current 2024-2025 season, racking up a commendable 30 first team appearances in league matches for Dunfermline.
Though still seeking his competitive debut for Celtic, Tobi Oluwayemi's experiences and steady ascension through loan spells suggest a promising future ahead. His journey provides a prime example of the often winding and diverse paths followed by our footballers, all in the pursuit of honing their craft and preparing for first-team readiness at football's highest echelons.
