Ulrik Laursen, born on 28 February 1976 in Denmark, is a former defender well-known for his time playing as a central defender. Standing tall at 6ft 2in (1.9m) and weighing 13st 7lb (86kg), Laursen began his football career in July 1993 when he joined Odense BK as a trainee. Throughout his time at Odense BK, Laursen had a commendable record of constant interaction with the first team, his appearances being quite consistent across seasons, with occasional bursts of scoring prowess noted.
In July 2000, the Danish defender made his first move away from his home nation, transferring to Premiership club Hibernian in Scotland. Over his two seasons there, Laursen went on to make a total of 53 appearances and netting three goals.
In August 2002, Laursen made a significant move in his career when he transferred to Celtic in the Premiership for a fee of around £1.5m. His time at Celtic marked a particular high in his career. His debut season in 2002-2003 saw him make 22 first team appearances. Although he didn't make any appearances in the 2003-2004 season, he came back strong for the 2004-2005 season with 18 appearances.
However, in July 2005, he decided to return to his former club Odense BK in the Danish 1. division, for a modest sum of £50k. His second stint at the Danish club was more fruitful, making numerous appearances over the subsequent seasons and ending his stint in January 2008.
Laursen's career didn't end upon leaving Odense BK. He transferred to FC Copenhagen in the same division. His time at Copenhagen saw him make a substantial number of first team appearances across three seasons until he made an undisclosed move away from the club in May 2010.
