Vidar Riseth was born on the 21st of April 1972, in Norway. He is a former professional footballer who mainly served as a central defender standing 1.87m (6ft 1in) tall and tipping the scales at 81kg (12st 10lb).
Riseth's career started with a spell at Rosenborg in the Norwegian Eliteserien in February 1992, where he made a lone appearance in the 1992 - 1993 season. His game time increased significantly in the subsequent seasons netting him several goals. Fürther stints at this club in later years remained impressive until his final tenure in 2007 where he made 14 appearances and scored a solitary goal.
His career saw him move to Kongsvinger in the Norwegian OBOS-ligaen in February 1994 where he made 18 appearances and scored three goals in the 1994 - 1995 season. Riseth's performance improved in the following season, netting him 12 goals.
The staunch defender then transferred to LASK Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga in July 1996, just ahead of a major career jump to one of Scotland's top tier clubs.
In September 1998, Riseth made a significant leap in his career by transferring to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership for a fee of around £1.3 million. He served Celtic with determination, making 27 first-team appearances and scoring three goals in league matches during the 1998 - 1999 season. He continued with the same momentum into the 1999 - 2000 season but faltered slightly with only a single appearance in the 2000 - 2001 season.
Though his time at Celtic was brief, spanning just three seasons, his contributions were notable. However, in November 2000, it was announced that Riseth had transferred from Celtic to 1860 Munich in the 3. LIGA in Germany for a fee of around £750,000. His performance in Germany was above average with his first season ending with 21 first team appearances and one goal.
Riseth returned to his familiar turf at Rosenborg in the Eliteserien, transferring from 1860 Munich in January 2003 for a fee of around £400,000, and continuing to demonstrate flair in seasons 2003 through 2007.
After that, Riseth moved to Lillestrom in 2008 and Stromsgodset in 2009, consistently demonstrating his ability as a reliable defender. In 2010 he saw a shift from Stromsgodset to Kongsvinger again, ending a well-travelled, competent career characterised by durability and skilful defending.
