Wessam Abou Ali was born on the 4th of January 1999, and hails from Denmark. Currently aged 27, Abou Ali is a forward with a main position as a striker for Columbus Crew. He stands at 6ft 1in (1.86m) with a weight of 12st 3lb (78kg) and he is readily identifiable on the field with his number 9 jersey.

Abou Ali began his professional footballing career as a trainee in Aalborg BK in Denmark's 1. division in July 2015 and made his first team appearance during the 2017 - 2018 season. He went on to make 16 first team appearances and scored one goal during the following 2018 - 2019 season. However, his 2019 - 2020 season saw him making just two first team appearances.
A shift occurred in August 2019 when Abou Ali was loaned out from Aalborg to Vendsyssel FF in the 2. division of Denmark's league. September 2020 then saw him being transferred outright for round £140k from Aalborg to Silkeborg in Denmark's Superliga where he made three first team appearances in his first season there.
During August 2021, his football journey led him to Vendsyssel FF of the 2. division once more, this time through a transfer from Silkeborg for an undisclosed fee. From Vendsyssel FF, he was transferred in July 2023 to IK Sirius of Sweden's Allsvenskan for an undisclosed fee as well. His time at IK Sirius seemed to have been rewarding as he made 16 first team appearances and scored ten goals in his debut season at the club.
Abou Ali's successful stint at IK Sirius caught the eyes of Al Ahly, an Egyptian Premier League team, resulting in a January 2024 transfer for around £1.5m. After a brief period at Al Ahly, he was transferred to Columbus Crew in the United States' Major League Soccer (MLS) in July 2025 for a fee of around £5.5m.
During his debut 2025 season at Columbus Crew, he made a commendable contribution by making five first team appearances and scoring three goals. It is expected that Abou Ali will continue his football career at Columbus Crew in the USA for the 2026 season.
Aside from his club duties, he also made a mark in the MLS 2026 for Columbus Crew by scoring three goals in five starts, further underscoring his importance to the team.
