Central defensive midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) on 25 January 1987, currently plays for Orléans in the Championnat National in France. He stands tall at 5ft 10in (1.78m) and weighs 11st 13lb (76kg), marking his territory with the number 29 jersey.
Mulumbu's footballing journey began in July 2006, as a trainee at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), a prominent Ligue 1 side in France. He achieved a modest tally of 12 league appearances in his debut season (2006-2007). However, he only managed to secure one league appearance in the subsequent 2007-2008 season.
An opportunity arose in August 2007 for Mulumbu to join Amiens, a Ligue 2 side, on loan. Here he amassed a fair 23 first team appearances for league games and even managed to score a goal in the 2007-2008 season.
Paris Saint-Germain let Mulumbu go on loan again in February 2009, this time to West Bromwich Albion, a team competing in the Championship in England at the time. His time at West Bromwich saw an upswing in his career as he made a consistent number of first team appearances in league matches and scored goals across several seasons from 2008 to 2015.
Mulumbu formalised his move to West Bromwich Albion in July 2009 for a fee of around £180k. After a fruitful spell with the Albions, Mulumbu transferred to Norwich City, another Championship side in England, in June 2015.
After a less than impressive tenure at Norwich City (2015 - 2017), he was transferred to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock. His performance in Scotland was steady, with a commendable number of appearances and a few goals under his belt across the 2017 - 2021 seasons.
Mulumbu's move in August 2018 saw him switch loyalties to Celtic, another heavyweight of the Premiership in Scotland. Sadly, his time at Celtic was comparatively uneventful, marking only a single appearance in the 2018-2019 season. He was sent back on loan to Kilmarnock in January 2019, where he continued to make regular appearances and scored a few goals.
Mulumbu's association with Celtic officially ended in June 2019. He rejoined Kilmarnock in August 2020. However, in July 2021, he transferred back to his homeland DR Congo (Zaire) playing for Saint Éloi Lupopo in the Linafoot. The remaining years saw him move out of Saint Éloi Lupopo in August 2022 and eventually join Orléans in France in September 2023.
Currently playing for Orléans in the 2025-2026 season, Mulumbu, at 38, is yet to make a first-team appearance in league matches.
