Meet Bailey Rice. Born on the 4th of October 2006, a "wee lad", only 19 years of age, hailing from Scotland. Rice isn't your ordinary teen though, no, no. This young chap holds the remarkable position of a midfielder for Rangers, earning his keep by primarily playing as a central defensive midfielder. As if that isn't impressive enough, he tends to tower above most of us mere average height mortals at a deceptively lanky 6 feet (or approximately 1.85m for the metrically inclined among us). A substantial 11 stone and 2 pounds (or around 71kg for those partial to continental measurements) of him is evenly distributed across this height. For those with an eye to detail for shirt numbers, he dons the number 49 on his back.
Now, let's have a bit of a chinwag about his exploits in the world of footy, shall we? His debut season with Rangers in 2022-2023 was relatively uneventful, making just one first team appearance. I wouldn't call it a groundbreaking year, per se. But the lad just joined, after all. The following season, 2023-2024, he doubled his first team appearances to a dizzying two. I know, you must be on the edge of your seat by now.
By the 2024-2025 season, our Rice seemed to be on the up and up, making seven first team appearances. In the current season of 2025-2026, however, his contribution to Rangers' first team could be adequately summed up as "nada". It seems he's taken a bit of a sabbatical this season, seeing as he has yet to make a single appearance.
Our youngster did manage to participate in the League Cup 2025-2026 for Rangers, and even had the unique distinction of starting once. In a somewhat dull career journey with the Rangers, we might consider this his glimmering piece de resistance. Or perhaps the lad is just warming up? Only time will tell.
