Carl Starfelt was born in Stockholm on 1 June 1995 (age 31), and the Sweden international has built his career as a central defender. Before Scotland, his most productive league season came with Rubin Kazan in 2020-21, when he scored three goals in 29 appearances.
Celtic signed him from Rubin Kazan in July 2021 for around £4m. His spell in Glasgow was a successful one in plain terms: two Premiership titles, two League Cups and a Scottish Cup in two seasons. He was not a flashy defender, which is often just as well, but he became part of a Celtic side that won consistently.
