Permit me to introduce you to Mr. Clinton Nsiala-Makengo, a fresh-faced lad of 20, born on the cool winter day of 17th January 2004, in none other than our lovely France. Clinton chose the challenging path of a football professional, specializing as a central defender. Seems the life in Rangers FC, ensconced in the Scottish Premiership, suits him well – though one might argue the cold, dark winters up here bear a canny resemblance to a troll's cave rather than the picturesque plains of his homeland.
With an imposing stature of 6ft 2in (or 1.88m for those infatuated with the metric system) and a solid weight of 13st 9lb (if we prefer kilos, that's around 87), perhaps it is Clinton’s destiny to stop attacks as a colossal central barricade. His preferred jersey, adorned with the number 19, offers no more insight into the lad's life or character beyond his professional persona.
Now let me take you on a little chronological jaunt through Clinton's career snapshot, which, refreshingly, does not involve our beloved Hoops. Back in the fiery summer of 2021, while we were all plotting our post-lockdown escapades, Clinton bid adieu to Nantes in the French Ligue 1 and jetted off to rub shoulders with more elite company at AC Milan in Italy's famed Serie A. Ah, the lure of pasta and sunshine, can hardly blame the lad, can we?
However, that Italian sojourn was rather short-lived, as come July 2024, our gallant defensive dynamo shifted gears yet again, this time to the Scottish Premiership, signing on for Rangers. Always an intriguing decision, don't you think, given the, shall we say, distinct aroma of deep-fried Mars bars in the air?
But in the end, who are we to judge? We're just impassioned football eccentrics, looking for drama in every transfer tale, every match stat and every arcane announcement of football bureaucracy. And dear Clinton, in the age-old tradition of this grand game, is just another player in the ensemble of the great football theatre.
