Let us take a jaunt through the fairly winded journey of one Mr. Dujon Sterling, born in the sceptred isle on 24 October, 1999. Currently trotting the earth at a burly 6ft 1in (1.86m) towering height, and brandishing a robust weight of 12st 10lb (81kg), he adorns the number 21 jersey. His current sport goes by the illusionary moniker of being a 'defender' for Rangers. A vocation he's held for several bus tours down the road.
Our panoptic journey with Sterling begins in the idyllic summer month of July 2015, when he joined Chelsea as a trainee. Let's consider this phase as heralding his career’s inception in the hallowed grounds of Premier League.
Fast forward to July 2018, and the glitzy glimmer of Chelsea's eye seemed to fade as Sterling rode the cogs of the transfer mechanism to Coventry City. Yes, an entirely expected sojourn given that the air of the Championship has welcomely intoxicated many a naive player.
Now, in case you've been living under a rock, or indeed in a Hebridean bothy for the past few years, you'd be unsurprised to hear that as of August 2019 Mr Sterling had another taste of the transfer window's piquant dish. He was whisked off, quicker than you can say 'desperate bid for playing time', to Wigan Athletic in the League One, on loan, of course. The outcome? Eight showings, playing with the big lads during his shiny new debut season. Remarkable, eh?
Did this fateful encounter with the revolving doors of transfer mark the end of Sterling’s peregrinations? It certainly did not! Come August 2021, this Chelsea child was shipped off, once again, on loan to Blackpool. And with a commendable tally of 24 league appearances, he proved that he can run around for a good amount of time without needing a sit down.
Yet, the thirst for conquest did not end there. Here we are in September 2022, Sterling got another slip of paper, spatula-ed from Chelsea to the delicately waiting hands of Stoke City. Did he dilly-dally? I beg to disagree. Twenty six appearances, no more, no less.
Fast forward to July 2023, the Chelsea-to- others-loan musical chair continued, only this time sending our dear Sterling north of the border to Rangers, where he swopped one shade of blue for another. His journey in the Premiership has thus far seen him make 24 appearances during his 2023-2024 campaign, followed by a 20 showing in the subsequent 2024-2025 season, and as of our current timeline, 2025-2026, Sterling can lay claim to a grand total of eight first team league match appearances.
If his contribution to the Premiership wasn't enough, Sterling also graced the Scottish Cup in 2025 – 2026 with a solitary start and even managed to sneak in a guest appearance in Rangers' rendition of the Europa League the same year. Now that is some story, wouldn’t you say?
