Let's take a wee delve into the life of one Dujon Sterling, shall we? Born on that idyllic day of 24 October, 1999 (making him a sprightly 26 years old), Sterling hails from the riveting locale of England. Quite the chap, he stands tall at around 6ft 1in (or 1.86m to you continental types) and weighs in at a sturdy 12st 10lb (a smidgen over 81kg if you're that way inclined). He can usually be spotted bombing down the right side, wearing his lucky number 21 shirt. Riveting stuff.
Sterling, probably wide-eyed and eager, joined Chelsea as a trainee back in July 2015. Mind you, Chelsea's rather Premier, isn't it? Nothing like starting at the top and working your way...well, sideways.
Consistent with his career trajectory, Sterling then made the switch from Chelsea's gilded bridge to Coventry City on loan in July 2018. Again, Premier to Championship, it's a side-step if ever there was one.
Not one for settling, the lad was at it again in August 2019, shuffling along from Chelsea's haven (premier, of course), to - wait for it - Wigan Athletic, a shining beacon in the illustrious world of League One football. Eight first team appearances in his debut season there. Perhaps a high note in a low league.
And wouldn't you guess it, by August 2021, he'd bundled up his boots for another loan switch, this time to Blackpool (again in League One), where he made a marginally more respectable 24 first team appearances.
Come September 2022, and Sterling had become a regular fixture in the loan market, packing his bags for another stint, courtesy of Chelsea's generosity, at Stoke City in the Championship. Here, the lad made 26 first team appearances. There's an upward trend building here.
The real cherry atop our lad's career, however, came in July 2023 when Rangers (of the Premiership ilk up in Scotland, I'm assured) extended a warm welcome to the habitually loaned man himself. Sterling made his mark with 24 first team appearances. He was still with Rangers the next season, having successfully clawed his way back into the big leagues; this time, managing 20 appearances.
As we approach the 'now', the current season 2025 - 2026 at Rangers sees Sterling making a modest five appearances. Yes, you guessed it, at Rangers (still Scotland, still the Premiership). And despite his cameo run of appearances, Sterling has had the pleasure of flirting with European football, albeit with a solitary substitute appearance in the Europa League 2025 - 2026 under his belt. One can only presume he's holding out for yet another loan spell.
Football, eh? It's a love story, really.
