Dujon Sterling, born on a somewhat irrelevant day of 24th October 1999 in the football-loving country of England, is a defender who tries his utmost best to play mostly as a right-back for Rangers. The lad stands tall, very tall for that matter, at 6ft 1in or 1.86m for those of us living in the 21st century. He's a big chunk as well, weighing at 12st 10lb or 81kg if decimals are more your thing. Thankfully, Rangers had the sense to sew a large number 21 on the back of his jersey so we can recognise him on the pitch.
Sterling dutifully started his career at Chelsea in good old Blighty back in July 2015. He took on the daunting challenge of a trainee, presumably learning such complex tactics such as passing, shooting and perhaps even tackling.
Showing his desperate tenacity to stay in England, he found himself at Coventry City on loan in July 2018. In August 2019, Chelsea decided they were bored of Sterling hanging around so packed him off on loan once more, this time to the stratospheres of Wigan Athletic, where he made the earth-shattering contribution of eight first-team appearances in his debut season.
Chelsea – apparently not tired of their plaything – loaned our dear Dujon to Blackpool in August 2021. Here he clocked a whopping 24 first team appearances on the beaches before dominating the scene at Stoke City with another loan stint for the 2022-2023 season, and just to vary it up a bit, appeared for a staggering 26 matches in that time.
At this point, it seemed Chelsea's loan department had decided to send Sterling on holiday to Scotland, to play for the Rangers to be exact, in July 2023. There he spent each season showing consistency in largely being fielded for 24, 20, and 9 outings respectively.
As a testament to his abilities, our Sterling lad has also graced the Scottish Cup 2025-2026 for Rangers with precisely one start. In addition, he made a dazzling appearance as a substitute in the Europa League 2025-2026 for Rangers. I am sure the fans were beside themselves with joy.
In all seriousness, whilst Dujon Sterling's career appears to be a never-ending cycle of loan spells around the lesser clubs of England and a stint in Scotland, he has at least proved he can last a couple of seasons in one club. A noteworthy, consistent, but somewhat plodding player, Sterling has a long way to go before instilling fear in the hearts of the opposition. At least, he has a memorable number.
