Born in the charming country of England on a rather ordinary November day in 2001, a certain Emmanuel Fernandez established himself as a contender in the game of football, now striking balls and defenders alike as a central defender for Rangers. Standing tall at an impressive 6ft 4in (1.94m) and tipping the scales at 13st 3lb (84kg), Fernandez, it could be argued, no doubt benefits from a champion's share of the gene pool. Undoubtedly, one might also reason that his size and stature became key contributors to his actual market value. Fernandez currently boasts a market value of a sizeable £1.27m, according to a little birdie named Transfermarkt.
Fernandez began his first foray into professional football in July 2021. Cutting his teeth in Peterborough United, he made such a great splash that his grand debut numbered around one first team appearance in league matches - a feat accomplished by many an English schoolboy, quite possibly still booted in the shoes of yesteryear. Post that almost meteoric journey at Peterborough, Fernandez took his talents on loan to Barnet, an impressive step sideways from the dizzying heights of League One English football to the equally puzzling depth of League Two.
Rather unsurprisingly, following his intense professional learning curve at Barnet, our committed defender returned to his professional nesting ground of Peterborough United for yet another dramatic run. His accomplishments this time in his debut season did nothing but cement his growing aura as he graced the hallowed turf once again for a first team appearance.
Ambition finally led Fernandez towards the hidden sun of Scottish football in Rangers, a move consummated in July 2025 for an undisclosed sum. As if guided by the invisible hand of destiny itself, Fernandez raised his game to stratospheric heights, managing to leap and head the ball into the net four times in twelve appearances in the Premiership, 2025 - 2026 season.
Not satisfied with this sudden burst of domestic success, Fernandez extended his goalscoring prowess into the League Cup, managing a towering return of one goal in one start, while also making the grand stage of the Europa League, starting twice with no particular distinction.
And so, this is the tale of the Englishman, Emmanuel Fernandez, who took up the mantle of jersey number 37, playing football on the windswept fields of Scotland's Premiership, his odyssey chronicled in a lifetime on the pitch.
