Joe Chalmers, born on 3 January 1994 (age 32), is a Scottish defensive midfielder with Cove Rangers. He came through at Falkirk before Celtic took him in July 2014, a move that put him briefly into the orbit of a much bigger club without becoming the main thread of his career.
His Celtic spell was short. In July 2015 he left for Motherwell, and the years after that took him through a familiar Scottish route: Motherwell, Inverness CT, Ross County and Ayr United. His most productive league season came at Ross County in 2019-20, when he scored three times in 14 appearances.
Chalmers later found a steadier footing at Dunfermline Athletic, where his career settled into something more substantial than the stop-start spells that had followed Celtic. He has since moved on to Cove Rangers, where in 2026-27 he has made eight League One appearances, with 11 outings and one goal in all competitions.
His career has been shaped less by one headline spell than by persistence across the Scottish game, from Falkirk and Celtic to a more established senior role elsewhere.
