Our tale begins with the pint-sized phenomenon, Karamoko Dembele. Born in England on the 22nd of February 2003, making him a sprightly 23 years of age, Dembele now paces the pitch for Queens Park Rangers. This nippy forward, usually lingering on the right wing, is quite the standout at a diminutive 5ft 3in (1.61m) tall and weighing in at a lean 10st 3lb (65kg). If you happen to glance his way, he's the one clad in the lucky number 7 jersey and likely being a thorn in the side of some poor defender.
Our story takes a rousing turn as Dembele decided to join the esteemed Celtics right here in Scotland as a wet-behind-the-ears trainee in July 2017. During his time with Celtic, between the 2018-2022 seasons, Dembélé played the proverbial game of hide and seek with the first team, making a grand total of 8 appearances and netting just 1 goal. Not exactly what you'd call a glittering stint.
In a turn of events as surprising as fog in the Highlands, Dembélé was transplanted from Scotland to France, joining Brest in Ligue 1 in July 2022. Here he graced the pitch 31 times from 2022 to 2024, though his knack for finding the back of the net stayed mysteriously elusive.
Then followed a brief sojourn to Blackpool on loan, because who after all, can resist a good old British seaside, complete with chips and gravy? This loan wouldn’t last long though as he returned to France in 2024.
In another twist that would make an eel dizzy, Dembélé was loaned out yet again, this time to Queens Park Rangers in 2024. Here he played like a man possessed (or perhaps just a man who wanted a permanent contract), making 23 first team appearances and kicking in 3 goals in the 2024-2025 season.
And would you Adam and Eve it, his endeavour at QPR was rewarded as he finally got shipped for good from Brest in Ligue 1 to the Rangers, for some undisclosed fee that is probably best left undisclosed to aid the digestion. Interestingly, the move seemed to subdue Dembele's newfound furor, with his present 2025 - 2026 season consisting of 28 appearances with only a single goal to show for it.
Aside from the league, the lad made a 'blink and you'll miss it' appearance in the FA Cup 2025 - 2026 for Queens Park Rangers. And, here we are, at the end of our little odyssey. One can only hope this butterfly will finally decide to stick to a club.
