Meet Reuben McAllister, our young lad who came screaming into this world on the 15th of May 2006—now sitting rather prestigiously at the nubile age of 18. A mini titan in the world of football, he occupies the centre of the field as a midfielder for the illustrious Cove Rangers. In spite of the ridiculously unpredictable Scottish weather, he stands quite stalwart at 1.78m, or 5 foot 10 inches, for those refusing to embrace the metric system. A relatively trim lad, weighing in at 66kgs or 10 stone 5 pounds if you're sceptical of those newfangled metric measurements.
Progressing through the footballing ranks, we find our brave McAllister in July 2022, making the leap from the less-than-glamorous Bristol City in England's Championship, to the Scots-centric Premiership, crossing the border himself to grace Hibernian with his grand presence. The transfer fee was a princely sum of around £250k, clearly revealing Hibernian's appreciation for potential talent when they see it.
Not content with staying at Hibernian, dear old McAllister decided, in January 2024, to take on an adventurous jaunt to Kelty Hearts in Scotland's League One, not as a permanent fixture you understand, no no, but a temporary placement or loan as it's commonly known. That must have been quite a shake for the lad, going from the Premiership to the League One. Quite a swift kick in the humble pie I’d say.
By the time June 2024 rolled around, McAllister was whirled back into the realm of the Premiership, leaving Kelty Hearts behind to rejoin the more familiar terrains of Hibernian. Nothing like a good homecoming is there?
However, our protagonist is not one for staying put. In August of the same year, McAllister found himself being flung back into the whirlwind of League one, trading the green and whites for the quaintness of Cove Rangers. Another loan stint and a new chapter for our wandering football warrior.
So there you have it, the quick skate over the frozen loch that has been McAllister's football career to date. A restless footballer ever thirsty for a new challenge, or the victims of club whims? Only time will tell.
