Now we turn our attention to Ross Graham, a sturdy tree of a lad, standing 6ft 4in tall (1.94m for metric-minded folks), and who packed about 12st 12lb (or 82kg) under his Dundee United jersey. Born in the dead of Scottish winter in Scotland on 20 February 2001, Graham developed his chops primarily as a central defender, though I can see how he'd make a compelling argument as a utility pole, given his dimensions. He's currently decked out in the number 6 jersey if you fancy spotting him on a Scottish Premiership pitch.
Now, I wouldn't waste your time with idle speculations about his worth. Oh, no. His market value is estimated at around €550k, according to the fact-checkers over at Transfermarkt, but remember, it's always as good as the next club willing to write a cheque. In sterling terms, that's roughly about £470k, but let's not quibble over a few thousand quid.
Poor Graham's break into first team football at Dundee United has been interspersed with a series of loans which, if you'll pardon my frankness, smacks of a desperate game of football pass-the-parcel. He made his first meaningful contribution in the season 2021-2022 where he had 15 appearances and managed to score two goals in league matches. The lad managed to keep up the same amount of appearances the following season, but the goals dried up. Don't be alarmed, that happens when you're a defender. Things picked up in the season 2023 - 2024 where he made 18 appearances and even found the back of the net once. Then, he had a bit of a scorcher in the season 2024 - 2025, scoring four goals in 15 appearances. Finally, in the current season, Graham has made seven first-team appearances so far. Here's to hoping he can put in a couple more decent shifts before the summer rolls around.
In January 2020, his services were loaned to Elgin City, though I'm certain it wasn't for the weather. By June, his stint ended and he returned to Dundee United. The pattern repeats in October of the same year where he got loaned to Cove Rangers, only to be returned by post in January 2021. Then, in an almost Deja-Vu sequence, he took another trip to Cove Rangers in March 2021, and was promptly back in June. I tell you, the lad must have collected a fair pile of train tickets in his travels. His final spelunking adventure was at Dunfermline Athletic in July 2021, but even they had enough by January 2022, and placed him back to Dundee United, who hopefully kept the lad's locker unassigned.
One wonders with all these loans, if he accumulated enough club stripes to stitch together his own Scottish Premiership quilt. Only the future will tell what's in store for Graham, hopefully less akin to a pinball in a football-themed arcade machine.
