Tochi Chukwuani, a midfielder by design and fashion, took his first footballing breath in Denmark, manifesting upon this Earth on 24 March 2003. Now 22 years of age, Chukwuani revolves in the sphere of Rangers FC, where he's made his mark as a central midfielder. For those who care about such things, he stretches to 6ft 1in tall (that's 1.87m in the new fangled metric system) and tips the scales at a healthy 11st 9lb (or 74kg for those who prefer their measurements sans the Queen's English).
Adorning the number 42 jersey with pride, he cut his international teeth with the Denmark U21 national team – not exactly something to boast in the pub about, but it's something at least. Now if we're talking value - and believe me, in football we're always talking value - the lad clocks in at around €4.00m. Don't take my word for it though. Pop over to Transfermarkt, they'll confirm if you're doubting me.
Our lad Chukwuani had himself a humble start. In July 2017, he was warmly bundled off to FC Nordsjaelland in the Superliga in Denmark as a trainee. Not exactly Celtic Park, but we all must start somewhere. Chukwuani made a mere three first team appearances in league matches during the 2019-2020 season. His performance in the 2020-2021 season was mildly more impressive, with him turning up in 26 matches and scoring a couple of goals.
No summer vacation for Chukwuani in August 2022 as he found himself transferred to Lyngby in the 1st division in Denmark. Despite a new club, his performance in the 2022-2023 season was a near carbon copy of the previous – 23 appearances and only one goal. The 2023-2024 season saw a slight upturn with 31 appearances and four goals. Not the stuff of legends, but who am I to judge?
Now, in July 2024, our man was transferred to Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga. The price? A heart-stoppingly mediocre £180k. Biting his tongue in this new pasture, he made 27 appearances and scored a meagre three goals in the 2024-2025 season. The current 2025-2026 season is yet unfinished, but the lad’s looking steady with 16 appearances and just the one goal.
In an hysterical twist, the lad was shipped off to Rangers FC in Scotland’s Premiership in January 2026, for an eye-watering £4.3m. Clearly someone's having a laugh. He's managed a paltry six appearances in league matches this season.
Just for kicks, he was allowed a run out for the Scottish Cup 2025-2026, where he scored one goal. Plus he began in UEFA U21 Qualifiers 2025 for Denmark U21 – a couple of starts and appearances there. Mayhaps it's big boots to fill at Rangers – let's see how many more sides of the football quilt he can cover, eh?
