Todd Cantwell, born on 27 February 1998 (age 28), is an English attacking midfielder now with Blackburn Rovers. He came through at Norwich City, where his early career was shaped as much by loan football as by academy promise. Those spells mattered: he needed senior minutes, not another year of being discussed as a neat technical player with potential.
His breakthrough at Norwich brought him into regular English football, with the sort of close control and willingness to take the ball in awkward areas that made him noticeable. A later loan to Bournemouth kept him in the Championship picture, though his career by then had already started to feel less straightforward than his early reputation suggested.
Rangers took him to Scotland, where he had his most productive league season in 2023-24, scoring seven goals in 30 appearances. He also won the League Cup there. That spell had its moments, even if Celtic supporters were rarely short of reasons to keep the praise measured.
Cantwell is now at Blackburn Rovers. In 2026-27, he has made eight Championship appearances and scored once, alongside two League Cup appearances. His career has moved from Norwich promise, through loan-grounded development and a high-profile spell at Rangers, to a current role as an experienced attacking midfielder at Ewood Park.
