March 26, 2003, marked the birth of Tuur Rommens, a product of Belgian soil. Now a tender 22 years of age, Mr Rommens finds himself earning a crust as a defender for the Rangers Football Club. One wonders whether he had a Celtic voodoo doll as a child, or some prophetic vision considering he ended up with 'them' rather than 'us'. Nevertheless, he primarily takes a romp down the left back during his matches. A strapping lad, he stands at 6ft (1.85m), a bastion of defence for the 'Gers. A sturdy build is required in the rough and tumble world of football, and at 11st 11lb (75kg), it's safe to say Rommens cuts an imposing figure on the pitch. To his credit, or possibly due to a lack of originality, Rommens finds himself sporting the number 25 jersey.
Here's a fun tidbit, according to Transfermarkt, our young protégé is reportedly worth around £3.5m. Not too shabby, mind you, we've had a fair few worth a bit more at Parkhead.
In the 2021-2022 season, our dear Rommens tested the waters at Genk, with a whopping one first team appearance. Very impressive. He then moved to Westerlo for the 2023 - 2024 season where he managed 16 appearances, even managing to find the back of the net once. Maybe there's hope for him yet. In the subsequent season, Rommens again donned the Westerlo colours for 28 first team appearances. And we find him at Westerlo again this season with half that number to date.
As fate would have it, Rommens would then swap the waffles and beer of Belgium for Haggis and Irn Bru at Ibrox, with one first team appearance already under his belt in the current season. And to top it off, he's had an outing in the Scottish Cup with Rangers. But let's not forget, folks, it's about the quality, not the quantity.
