Charlie Gallagher the Celt

The cold facts of Charlie’s career do not portray just what a graceful and clever player he was . He came through the miserable years of the early 60s and his reward was to participate in the glory years of the late 60s. He is best remembered for the radar-like accuracy of his corner kicks against Vojvodina and Dunfermline both of them aimed for the majestic thumping headers of McNeill. In truth, Charlie was a connoisseur’s dream, an ‘old-fashioned’ inside forward and jettisoned too soon by Stein. R.I.P
