Formed in the year 1886, Motherwell have long been a cornerstone of Scottish football, carving out their legacy from the confines of their humble Fir Park Stadium. Considering the vast expanse of time that Motherwell have been a part of the football landscape in Scotland, it is of no surprise, for better or worse, they've barely had a sniff of the 'Old Firm' dominance before 2013.
The Steelmen have built a substantial squad that finds its estimated market value around the region of £8m, as alluded to by the good chaps over at Transfermarkt. One could say that's modest in this inflated market, however what it lacks in value, it makes up for in youthful exuberance with an average age of 23 amongst the 48 members of the playing staff.
As of this season, Motherwell find themselves entangled in 3 fronts of competition. They currently occupy the 4th spot on the Premiership chart, managed to fight their way through to the semi-finals in the League Cup and yet survived to the fourth round of the illustrious Scottish Cup. Who knows what the next page in their history book will read, but for now, they remain firmly locked in battle on all fronts.
